Opening and Closing a Position

How do I place an order?

  1. Go to Predict Pro and browse available events

  2. Select an event to open the trading page

  3. Select Buy or Sell

  4. Choose Yes or No based on whether you believe the outcome will happen

  5. Enter your order size in USD or number of contracts

  6. Review your order details, including cost, potential payout, and fees

  7. Click Confirm to place your order

You’ll be notified once your order is filled, partially filled, or rejected. A Yes position pays out if an event happens, and a No position pays out if it doesn’t.

How do Buy and Sell work with Yes and No positions?

Every market has one underlying instrument: Yes. A No position is a short Yes position. This means Buy and Sell behave differently:

Action

How it works

Buy (Yes or No)

Always available. Can open, increase, reduce, or flip your position. You do not need an existing position to Buy.

Sell (Yes or No)

Reduces an existing position only, up to what you currently hold. You cannot sell more than your position size or sell a side you do not hold.

Buying the opposite side to flip your existing position

Buying the opposite side in a larger size than your current holding closes your existing position and opens a new one in the opposite direction, in a single order.

How does price work when I choose No?

Because every market has one underlying instrument (Yes), a No position is always the inverse. When you buy or sell No, your price is automatically converted: the No price equals $1.00 minus the Yes price.

Example: If Yes is trading at $0.60, No is priced at $0.40. Buying 10 No contracts at $0.40 is equivalent to selling 10 Yes contracts at $0.60.

Your Order History and Trade History always display the side you selected (Yes or No) and the price you entered, so you see the trade exactly as you placed it.

Are there position limits?

Yes. The position limit is 1,000,000 contracts per event, across all contracts within the same event.

How do I close a position?

  1. Go to Trade Page > Positions under Trading Activity Widget

  2. Click Close on the position you want to exit

  3. Choose Market (best available price) or Limit (set your own price)

  4. Enter the number of contracts to close (all or part of your position)

  5. Click Confirm to submit your close order

If you close early, your realized P&L is the difference between your entry price and your closing price, minus fees on both sides.

If you hold to settlement, you receive $1.00 per contract if your position matches the outcome, or $0 if it does not.

Important note:

  • Combo positions can only be closed at market. Limit close is currently unavailable for combos.

Why can’t I close my position?

Predict Pro orders are matched on an order book. If no one is willing to take the other side of your order, you may see no price quote or be unable to close your position. This is more common as an event’s resolution time approaches or while a live event is in progress.

If there is no liquidity, you can place a Limit order at your desired price and wait for it to fill, or hold your position until the event settles.

Why is my available balance lower than my total balance?

If you trade Perpetuals from the same Derivatives account, those positions require collateral.

That collateral is reserved, which reduces your available balance. Predict Pro positions do not require collateral and are fully funded from your available Derivatives balance.
