Payouts and Settlement

How does payout work?

After an event settles, you receive a fixed payout based on your position:

  • If your position matches the outcome, you receive $1.00 per contract, minus any applicable fees.

  • If your position does not match the outcome, you receive nothing. You lose only what you paid to open the position.

You can also close your position before settlement at the current market price, subject to available liquidity. In that case, your profit or loss is the difference between your entry price and your closing price, minus fees on both sides.

Example:

  1. You buy 10 Yes contracts at $0.30 each

  2. Your cost to open is $3.00 plus fees

  3. The event resolves in your favor, and you receive $1.00 per contract ($10.00 total)

  4. Your profit is $10.00 minus your $3.00 cost, minus fees

How does settlement work?

After an event concludes, CDNA settles contracts based on the official result from the relevant data provider. Settlement timing varies by event type — typically within 24 hours, though some markets (such as crypto price contracts) may settle sooner. Revisions, disqualifications, or amendments issued after the event concludes do not affect settlement.

If a settlement is made in error due to a human or technical issue, CDNA may correct it by debiting or crediting your balance to reflect the correct result.

What happens if an event is postponed, canceled, or ends in a tie?

Scenario

Payout

Fees

Canceled or not completed within 48 hours of scheduled start

Yes holders receive the average price of the contract over one week before cancellation (weighted by trading volume). No holders receive $1.00 minus the Yes payout

Refunded

Tie or draw (where no tie outcome was listed)

Both Yes and No holders receive $0.50 per contract

Not refunded

Can my contract expire before the event starts?

Yes, a contract can expire early if its outcome can no longer occur. For example, if a team is eliminated before its next match, the contract expires.

You receive nothing and only lose what you paid to open the position. The timing of early expiry is determined by CDNA.
