Stocks Account Transfers for U.S. Users

Updated over a week ago

You can transfer your stocks account from another brokerage to Foris Capital US LLC, the company under Crypto.com that offers the Stocks feature in the U.S. Transfers are facilitated using the industry-standard Automated Customer Account Transfer Service (ACAT), which enables secure movement of securities between financial institutions with minimal effort.

To make a transfer, you simply need to submit a request with the receiving firm. You can make a request from the Crypto.com App if you want to transfer from another brokerage. Once your request is submitted, the transfer process typically takes three to seven business days to complete.

How do I transfer stocks and ETFs in?

Follow these steps to move your stocks and ETFs into your Crypto.com account:

  1. From the home screen, tap Deposit > Stocks > Transfer > Transfer In

  2. Review the latest Stocks transfer promotion, if applicable

  3. Choose the brokerage firm you are transferring assets from

    1. If the brokerage supports Plaid:*

      1. Sign up for or log into Plaid

      2. Select the specific brokerage account

      3. If your account contains only stocks and ETFs, you can opt for a full account transfer. If your account contains other assets, you can do a partial transfer by selecting the specific assets and amounts you wish to move.

    2. If the brokerage does not support Plaid, or if you exited the flow:

      1. Enter the details of the brokerage account you are transferring from. Your account number can usually be found on your brokerage account statement. Refer to this page for the account number formats of common brokerages.

      2. Ensure the name on your brokerage account matches the name associated with your Foris Capital US LLC (Crypto.com) account.

      3. Select the assets and the amount of each asset you wish to transfer.

    3. If you can’t find the brokerage on the list:

      1. Enter the Depository Trust Company (DTC) number of the brokerage account you are transferring from

      2. Enter your account transfer details manually

  4. Review all the transfer details. Tap Confirm to submit your transfer request.

The transfer usually takes three to seven business days to process through your brokerage and the ACAT system. However, in some cases, it may take up to 28 days to complete.

If you have any questions about the account transfer process or want to check the status of your transfer, please contact customer support at chat.foriscapital.com.

What is the cost basis when transferring stocks and ETFs?

Transferring your stocks and ETFs from another brokerage does not have any tax implications, as this is not considered a taxable event. We, together with our clearing partner Apex Clearing, will provide all necessary tax documents (such as Form 1099) for your records.

The cost basis reported on your Form 1099 will accurately reflect the original cost basis from your previous brokerage, ensuring your tax reporting remains correct.

Refer to this page to see how to download your statements and tax documents.

How does the transfer fee reimbursement work?

Crypto.com does not charge any fees for incoming account transfers. However, the originating brokerage may charge a fee, typically ranging from $75 to $100, for transferring your account out. To help cover this cost, we offer a reimbursement for the first three account transfers valued at over $2,000 each.

For complete details and eligibility, go to tap Deposit > Stocks > Transfer > Transfer In from the home screen.

Solution

Insufficient cash balance

The account you are transferring funds from may not have enough cash available to cover the transfer amount or the originating brokerage’s transfer fee.

Add funds or ensure your account balance can cover all fees before retrying.

Insufficient assets

There may not be enough assets in your account, or the quantity entered is incorrect.

Double-check the asset quantities and confirm you’re not selling or transferring these assets elsewhere.

Fractional shares

Fractional shares cannot be transferred via ACAT.

Sell your fractional shares and then transfer your remaining assets.

Transfers from margin to cash accounts may not be allowed.

Consult the originating brokerage to convert your margin account to a cash account, and verify you’ve provided the correct account number.

IRA to individual account transfers

Confirm you’re transferring between compatible account types and have used the correct account number.

Joint to individual account transfers

Some transfers are restricted if account types don’t match.

Update your account information or contact support for help.

Recent Instant Deposit (ACH pull)

Instant deposits may not have settled yet.

Outstanding instructions

Pending activities like other transfer requests or IPO orders can block a new transfer.

Resolve any outstanding instructions before resubmitting your request.

Transfer canceled

If you canceled the transfer, you can resubmit it.

Start a new transfer request in the app or consult the originating brokerage for assistance.

Account restricted

Account restrictions from the originating brokerage can prevent transfers.
