What tax forms will I receive for my Crypto.com IRAs?
You may receive the following tax forms if any of your accounts has reportable activities, according to IRS rules:
Form 1099-R* | Reports distributions (withdrawals) from your Crypto.com IRAs, including conversions and recharacterizations
This form shows your total withdrawals (Gross Distribution), the taxable amount, and any federal or state tax withheld |
Form 5498* | Reports all contributions, conversions, year-end fair market value (FMV) of your account, and whether a required minimum distribution (RMD) is due for the upcoming year |
*Transfers into or out of an IRA are not reportable and will not appear on Forms 1099-R or 5498.
When will I receive the tax forms?
The tax filing deadline for the 2025 tax year is April 15, 2026. When your tax forms are ready, you'll receive an email notification from apexfintechdocuments.com. You can also view your tax forms by going to IRA from the main menu, then selecting Account details > Tax documents.
The estimated delivery date for Form 5498 is May 22, 2026.
How do I access the tax forms for my IRAs?
Follow these steps to access your tax-related information:
On the Crypto.com App home screen, tap IRAs from the main menu
Tap Account details > Tax documents
Separate forms apply for cryptocurrency, stocks, and cash transactions.

Does staking in my IRA generate taxable income (UBTI)?
The tax treatment of staking rewards earned in a retirement account is currently uncertain, and the IRS has not provided definitive guidance on how such rewards are treated for retirement accounts.

Does Crypto.com withhold taxes on staking rewards?
Crypto.com does not withhold taxes on staking rewards earned in your IRA.
