What is Profit & Loss?

Profit & Loss provides information on the performance of your crypto holdings, helping you understand how your investments are doing over time. Your Total Profit & Loss is composed of Realized Profit & Loss and Unrealized Profit & Loss. These are tracked by the Crypto.com App and are accessible to you.

Portfolio Profit & Loss

The performance of your crypto investments are tracked as transactions occur in your account, and this information is presented to you through different screens.

Performance Screen

The Performance screen shows the cumulative performance of your crypto investments over a selected time interval. You can view your investment performance from the past 24 hours up to 6 months. The tracking starts on the first date of the selected time interval, and performance is tracked from that point onwards.

Cumulative Profit & Loss Percentage calculation:

{Cumulative Profit & Loss %} = {Total profit & loss since first date} / ({Cost basis on the first date} + {Sum of value inflow after the first date}) * 100%

How to access the Performance Screen:

  1. Go to “Account” from the navigation bar.

  2. Tap “Performance”.

Coin Screen

The Coin screen provides Profit & Loss information at the crypto level in the “Your Balance” section. Even if you don't currently hold a particular crypto, you can see performance information of your past trades. For instance, if you have traded Bitcoin multiple times but don't hold any Bitcoin now, you will still see your overall gain or loss for Bitcoin since your account inception.

“Your Balance” data:

  • Average Cost: The average price you paid to build your current position.

  • Net Invested: The total fiat amount you invested to build up your crypto balance, calculated as the difference between fiat inflow (e.g., bought, received) and outflow (e.g., sold, sent).

  • Portfolio Diversity: The proportion of a specific crypto relative to your total portfolio value.

  • Unrealized Profit & Loss: The potential profit or loss of your current crypto holdings, calculated as the difference between the market value of your token balance and the cost of accumulating it.

  • Realized Profit & Loss: The actual gain or loss from previous positions that you sold or withdrew.

  • Total Profit & Loss: The sum of the Unrealized and Realized Profit & Loss.

How to access the Coin screen:

  1. Go to “Market” from the navigation bar.

  2. Tap “Coins”.

  3. Select “All Coins”.

  4. Choose a coin, e.g. “Bitcoin”.

Explaining Net Invested

The Net Invested is the difference between the amount in fiat added to your crypto holding and the amount removed. Below is an example of how the Net Invested is calculated, e.g.

Net Invested on Day 4 = ($2,476.60 + $3,699.85 + $4,588.97 - $10,759.54) = $5.89

Profit and Loss in Local Currencies

The Profit and Loss calculation is denominated in USD irrespective of your default currency in the first instance. To facilitate viewing the information in local currencies (such as TWD, EUR, etc.), the numbers are converted into your local currencies using the latest exchange rates. As a result, you might notice discrepancies in transaction history and the Profit and Loss figures due to exchange rate fluctuations.
