Trading with OpenClaw

Updated over a week ago

How do I buy or sell crypto using OpenClaw?

Send a natural language message to your OpenClaw through your connected messaging platform. For example:

Command

Example Input

Buy crypto with fiat

“Buy $500 of BTC with USD”

Buy crypto with crypto

“Buy $500 of ETH with BTC”

Sell crypto to fiat

“Sell 0.1 ETH”

Sell crypto to crypto

“Sell 0.1 ETH for BTC”

Sell an entire position

“Sell all my DOGE”

If you have multiple currencies in your account and don't specify what you're buying with, OpenClaw will ask you to clarify before proceeding.

What non-trading commands can I use?

Here are the available commands outside trading:

Command

Example Input

Check all balances in your account

“What's my balance?”

Check a specific token balance

“How much BTC do I have?”

Check your positions and unrealized P&L

“Show my portfolio”

Check your recent trades

“Show recent trades”

Check the price of a token

“Price of ETH”

Check trading budget

“What's my trading budget?”

Emergency stop (kill switch)

“Stop all trading”

Help

“Help”

The Help command is context-aware; it shows different information depending on your connection status and recent activity.

Do I need to confirm every trade?

By default, yes. Before a trade executes, OpenClaw shows you the details and asks you to reply “Yes” to confirm. You have 15 seconds to respond before the confirmation expires.

If you prefer faster execution, you can tell OpenClaw you don't need confirmation. This preference is saved and persists across sessions. You can opt back in at any time.

The kill switch (“stop all trading”) is the only command that never requires confirmation.

Important: Once a trade is executed by OpenClaw and processed by the Crypto.com App, it cannot be reversed. The kill switch stops future activity, but does not cancel trades mid-execution. Trading instructions are given through third-party messaging services (e.g., Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord). Crypto.com is not liable for security breaches or data leaks occurring on these external platforms.

How does OpenClaw handle ambiguous commands?

If your command matches multiple assets (e.g., “BCH” could be confused with “BTC”), OpenClaw will ask you to clarify before proceeding. If OpenClaw doesn't recognize the asset, it will let you know and suggest checking supported assets.

If you don't respond to a clarification prompt within 15 seconds, the request is canceled.

What payment methods are supported?

OpenClaw supports crypto and fiat balances already in your Crypto.com App account. You can:

  • Buy crypto with fiat

  • Buy crypto with another crypto

  • Sell crypto to fiat

  • Sell crypto to another crypto

Credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are not supported for OpenClaw trades. Make sure your main account has sufficient fiat balance before trading.
