What are Solana Actions and blinks?

Solana Actions is a set of developer tools that simplify interactions with the Solana blockchain. These APIs allow transactions to be previewed, signed, and sent directly from familiar environments like apps, websites, or QR codes, without needing a third-party app.

For example, clicking a Buy Now button on a website can trigger a Solana Action, letting you complete the transaction on the spot and enhancing user experience by keeping everything in one place.

Blinks, which is the portmanteau of “blockchain” and “links”, turn Actions into shareable links. This enables blockchain actions, like payments or voting, to be easily executed from anywhere online, making blockchain more accessible for everyday use.

What are the differences between Solana blinks and Cronos Blinks?

Cronos Blinks are a variation of Solana blinks, aiming to simplify Web3 transactions within the Cronos ecosystem, focusing on both Cronos and Cronos zkEVM chains.

We are working with VVS Finance and H2 Finance to provide crypto swapping experience on X first. We aim to provide a more open platform for other Cronos developers to join the creation of blink experiences. This is a new adventure for the Wallet Extension and we are open to joining other blink ecosystems in the future.

How to enable Cronos Blinks on Wallet Extension?

Go to the Settings page and turn on Blockchain Links (Blinks).

You can also see all the Blinks shared by the community on X.

How to create a Cronos Blink on X (previously Twitter)?

  1. Launch X on Chrome (desktop) and post this link: blinks.crypto.com/swap/cronos-zkevm/USDC-zkCRO
You should see the preview as shown below:

  2. Try out other trading pairs by replacing the USDC or zkCRO token symbol with others you prefer.

  3. Post the link on X to create the Blink.

Are Blinks safe to use?

Actions and blinks function similarly to connecting your Wallet to decentralised applications (dapps). Hence, you should only use Blinks with trusted sites, like how you would with familiar dapps.

When a wallet first attempts to retrieve a transaction from an unfamiliar API, users should see a "connect to site" prompt. The site domain is generally considered more trustworthy if it has previously connected to the wallet. As with dapps, transactions initiated through Actions are always simulated before execution. This confirmation step helps prevent transaction exploits.
