Information about CAD deposit methods, Interac standard transfer and common issues

Crypto.com offers a zero-fee* and a localized way for Canadian residents to top up their CAD Account via e-transfer through their bank accounts. To be able to deposit CAD, you first need to set up a CAD Account.

*Please note that Crypto.com charges no fee for CAD deposits via Interac Standard Transfer but your bank might. Please check with them accordingly.

What are the different CAD deposit methods?

Upon successful setup of the CAD Account, you will see a “Choose deposit method” screen with two options. This information can be also accessed via the Home screen Deposit > Cash” OR via Account> CAD Account> Deposit.

From the App Home screen, tap Deposit > Cash

The two deposit methods are:

  2. Interac Standard Transfer

How to deposit CAD via Interac Standard Transfer?

  1. Select “Interac Standard Transfer” in the Choose deposit method screen

  2. Use the payment email provided and enter it into your online bank app or portal to transfer funds from your bank account to your Crypto.com account

  3. Enter your Crypto.com Identification Number (located in the deposit information screen) in the message/ description field for us to identify your deposit

  4. We will notify you once your bank transfer has been successfully deposited

1. Select “Interac Standard Transfer” in the Choose deposit method screen

2. Use the payment email provided and enter it into your online bank app or portal to transfer funds from your bank account to your Crypto.com account

3. Enter your Crypto.com Identification Number (located in the deposit information screen) in the message/ description field for us to identify your deposit

4. We will notify you once your CAD bank transfer has been successfully deposited

Alternative deposit details

As part of our robust CAD cash deposit offering, you can choose which provider you want to use to make CAD Interac Standard transfers. From your CAD Account, select the alternative provider to access your alternative bank transfer details.

  1. On the CAD Bank Transfer screen, select the provider dropdown which will display either “DC Bank” or “Payper”.

  2. Select the alternative provider and confirm your selection to view your alternative bank transfer details.

At any time you may change between providers to use the bank transfer details of your choice to make CAD transfers directly from your bank account to your CAD Account.

1. On the CAD Bank Transfer screen, select the provider dropdown which will display either “DC Bank” or “Payper”

2. Select the alternative provider and confirm your selection to view your alternative bank transfer details

What if I forgot to enter the Crypto.com Identification Number?

Crypto.com Identification Number is the unique number assigned per user which the user must enter in the message/ description field when making the deposit from your bank app or portal. It allows us to identify your deposit. You can view your Identification Number in the CAD Bank Transfer screen.

  1. If you forgot to enter the Crypto.com Identification Number in the message field of your banking app / portal when making the deposit, simply navigate to the Deposit page and click ‘Tap here’

  2. Enter the 8 digit alphanumeric Interac reference number which begins with CA (not the same as the Crypto.com Identification Number) or 12 digit alphanumeric which begins with C1 that you received via email or bank alert

  3. We will notify you once your bank transfer has been successfully deposited

1. Navigate to the Deposit page and click ‘Tap here’

2. Enter the 8 digit alphanumeric Interac reference number which begins with CA (not the same as the Crypto.com Identification Number) or 12 digit alphanumeric which begins with C1 that you received via email or bank alert

How to locate my Interac reference number for CAD deposits?

After completing the deposit from your sending bank, you should receive either:

1. An email in your inbox (to the email address registered with your sending bank) that contains your 8 digit alphanumeric (begins with CA) / 12 digit alphanumeric (begins with C1) Interac reference number (it is case sensitive).

It may take up to 30 minutes to receive this email from your bank. Please also check your spam folder.

OR

2. A message/notification in your sending bank’s message center in your online banking account (if you have turned off email notifications from your sending bank) that contains your 8 / 12 digit alphanumeric Interac reference number (it is case sensitive).

If you are unable to locate your Interac reference number, please contact us via live chat or chat.crypto.com. We will be able to help recover it.

Note:

You only need to enter the Interac Reference Number if you forgot to include the Crypto.com Identification Number in the message field when making your deposit.

Troubleshooting

There are a few things to remember when making an Interac Standard bank transfer to your CAD Account:

  1. Your Named Account: We can only accept transfers from bank accounts opened under your own name. 3rd party transfers will not be accepted (e.g. payments from your friends or family, customers, salary transferred by your employer, etc.)

  2. We do not accept CAD transfers via 3rd party payments processing companies (e.g. Western Union, Wise, Stripe), or other crypto exchanges. Deposits must be initiated directly from your bank account

  3. Only CAD transfers via Interac Standard Transfer will be accepted. CAD transfers initiated from outside the Interac network will not be successful, and substantial fees for international transfer may be imposed on your funds

Common Issues: The most common reasons your bank transfer is on hold or is unsuccessful are:

  • The name on the bank account you transferred from does not match the name you used to register on Crypto.com

  • Your transferred funds came from a joint account

  • Your transferred funds came from a payments processing company (e.g. Western Union, Wise, Stripe, etc.) or from an unsupported institution such as a crypto exchange

  • You did not enter the correct Crypto.com Identification Number or Interac Reference Number

  • Your transferred funds were not CAD via Interac Standard Transfer

  • We currently only accept transfers from banks that support Autodeposit, refer to the list below. Non-Autodeposits won't be processed and refunds will take up to 30 days to appear in your bank account

When contacting our support, please be ready to provide us with supporting documents (e.g. a bank statement) showing your full name, the bank account you made the transfer from, and ideally, the transaction itself.

Deposit Refund

In case your deposit request is rejected, we will refund it back to the email address from which it was received. If your email is not registered for auto-deposit, you will require an answer to claim the refund. The answer is your unique Crypto.com Identification Number for Interac standard transfer deposit. In your app home screen, click Deposit > Cash OR Account> CAD Account. In the Choose Deposit Method Screen, Select “Interac Standard Transfer”. You can view your Identification Number here which is the answer to claim the refund.
